Well, I've come to admit to myself that my ITB won't be ready for the marathon this year. I thought about just doing it anyways, but really, that would only serve to put me right back to where I was. Its just not smart.
So, for the rest of the year, I'm still running, and losing weight. And, I think the ITB rehab exercises I've been doing, and will continue to do, will help out lots. We'll go for it next year. But for now, I've got another interesting little goal.
Back in high school, I once ran a mile in 6:12. Now, that was quite a while ago, however, I'm also in better shape then I was then too. I haven't ran a timed single mile sprint since high school. So, I'm interested to see where I would fall now.
One time, I ran a 400m (1/4 mile) in 59sec. A 6:00 pace for the mile would mean 1:30 laps around a 400m track. While my 59sec lap is ONE lap of everything I've got, I have to say, 90sec laps would seem within reach. I don't really know of course, but we'll see. My target is the 6:00 barrier.
Oh yeah, and I've started bowflexing again. Most things right now are to get through the winter and get a good solid start in the spring.
