It has been sometime since I posted on here. I haven't stopped running or anything, but things were a little busy there for a while. I was out of town for about 5 weeks for work. All that I had at my disposal was a treadmill. I did run on it, as much as I don't really like treadmills. The GPS watch was even used, mostly just for the HRM, since GPS on a treadmill, where you're not actually moving... yeah, not good for much.
Anyways, one of the toughest parts was diet. The first two weeks, I was in a hotel that had a kitchenette and I was able to be in good control of what I ate. However, because some shitsack in HR, who has zero accountability and sucks at their job, I got booted out of that hotel since my reservations were all screwed up. This meant I spent the last 3 weeks was spent in a hotel with a dorm fridge and microwave. Thanks for that, dickface.
One thing I did notice was a very tight knot in my right calf during most of the time running on the treadmill. Somehow, over the weeks, it did work itself out, and that's nice. I also didn't notice any ITB issues. I only ran 2 and 3 mile distances since that's about as much as I can stand on a tready.
So, yeah, I'm not thrilled that I put on some weight over that time. More than I expected, that's for sure. So, since I have a good amount of time at home now, I'm trying to get this weight the hell back off me. Its happening, but slowly.
Tomorrow I'll be running in my first event of the year. Its just a 5k. And, I really don't care about the time. I just don't want my ITB to act up. On yesterdays run, which was just 2 miles, I did feel a twinge in the ITB at 1.57 miles. It went away, but still, I'm not thrilled that I even felt it at all. Turned out, I was running an 8:50 pace, and its cold outside. I think the cold doesn't aid in old muscles and joints loosening up...
So, hopefully as I start slowly putting on distance, the ITB won't complain. Kinda sucks that if I can get a full marathon done this fall, won't have anything to do with how much effort and miles I put in. It will totally depend on my holding back and NOT running too much. Even if I do take it slow, I can't say the ITB is going to allow me to make it. But, I'm still going to try...
